PATRICK MAGINNESS
Job: Director of Health and Safety, Training and Compliance
Patrick served within the military for over 22 years and joined the telecoms industry in 2011. He has worked with various companies throughout the UK working on various telecom projects and whilst working for these companies took the opportunity to learn and gain his qualifications in NEBOSH. Patrick has successfully passed NGC 1, 2 and 3, CDM, Fire and now working towards his NEBOSH for environment and diploma in NESBOSH.
Joined FNT in April 2021 as the company formed and is dedicated to ensure that FNT provide a high quality service for all clients that come through the training centre. Offering H&S consultancy to companies within the telecoms industry.
New to the teaching environment Patrick is also processing the qualifications to provide training for various courses at the centre.
Smart Awards have an established team of specialist assessors making sure that employers, training providers and apprentices are prepared fully for the end-point assessment as set out in the assessment plans.
We offer an efficient, cost-effective service that ensures apprentices are assessed to the required Standard and are awarded the grade that reflects their level of competence.
PAUL TAYLOR
Paul’s 18-year career in the telecommunications industry started at BT Openreach. Spending 10 years with Openreach (BT) as a service engineer and becoming multi-skilled across all platforms from Copper to Broadband to Fibre and splicing.
When he left, he joined a variety of companies to learn more of the industry, his many roles included Civils, Auditing, Supervising then on the cusp of Project Managing.
Paul’s skills and knowledge of the industry are invaluable to the way he teaches now as he can fully relate with the candidates on a level they understand.
Paul Joined FNT in February 2022 and is a great asset to FNT, his ability to adapt to the training/assessor role has been fantastic.
ROBERT SADLER
Job: Director of Training and Assessors
Robert began his employment foundations within Engineering. This then evolved into the field of Telecommunications. Robert has now dedicated 27 years within the industry gaining a vast array of technical experience and managerial knowledge. This knowledge then led to his collection of approved recognised qualifications. Having a passion and flair for learning and development,
Robert embraced the opportunity to join FNT to help support and develop a quality Training Accreditation Centre.
As a Lead Assessor and Director of Training Robert delivers, encourages and will assess clients with the desire to obtain certification in Telecommunication standards and expectations. The outcome enables clients to work competently and grow within the industry.
STEVE ARTHUR
Job : Senior Trainer/Assessor – IQA – SHE Advisor
After leaving the military as a Radio Sergeant / Signal instructor, Steven Arthur (Steve) continued his interest in communications and retrained as a telecommunications engineer, Joining Comtel cable shortly after.
At this time the cable TV industry was growing very quickly. With the larger companies buying out the smaller ones, and client contracts changing hands, the employees found themselves working for a new company just as quick. This gave Steve a great opportunity to work for various companies and carry out a variety of roles which included field operations, civils, management positions, quality assurance, health & safety, and training. The additional bonus of this was that it gave Steve the chance to gain qualifications, experience, and expertise along the way.
Steve brings his vast knowledge of telecoms processes and procedures into the classroom in a good-natured and approachable manner. He has great experience in adult learning and endeavour’s to make his training educational, enjoyable and available to all no matter their educational level.
